"No regulations of the Counter-Gelmini" Piergiorgio BERGONZI

Open Letter to Members of the PDCI 'opposition
"No regulations of the Counter-Gelmini" Piergiorgio BERGONZI

The PDCI-
Federation of the Left, signed by Pierre Bergonzi, National Party School, sent an open letter to parliamentarians of the opposition parties of the Commission VII of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies, which in these days should express an opinion on "rules" of high school.

Ladies and gentlemen, these days the competent parliamentary committees are called upon to express an opinion on the "rules" of high school.

Let me make an appeal: Resist them with the utmost determination because such "regulations" constitute a real counter to our school, unacceptable, unconstitutional because it puts at stake the right to education of young generations and, with it, the whole country and their future.

are the facts and numbers demonstrating the indisputable that allegation.

is now recognized by all social, economic, political democracy that our country, to safeguard its future, currently facing a priority and imperative: to raise the cultural level and education of the whole population, or must first offer young people a degree qualified education that enables them to be full citizens of access to a stable job. This minimum level of education is now identified in the achievement by all eighteen of the upper secondary school diploma. A civilization which will achieve the goal of inclusion in our secondary school of about 400,000 young people each year are excluded.

Il all married to a Gentile-style cultural facility designed and reported by a company that has not existed for decades, that has nothing to do with the need for culture and the critical role of knowledge in contemporary society and that is only a functional school class of separation and exclusion.

is not difficult to foresee that the implementation of these "rules" even if not back in school, 400,000 young people each year are excluded, will produce, on the contrary, more and more extended forms of exclusion and massive from foreclosing the right to education ' access to upper secondary diploma at rates far higher than the current 20-25% of young people today do not it entails.

The approval and implementation of these "rules" will mark a step of great significance for the historic project that the reactionary right is pursuing: to dismantle the public school, uprooting the inalienable right to education for all sanctioned by the Italian Constitution .

On this there can be no mediation or compromise of any kind by those who care about the future of the country, is to preserve and implement the constitutional provisions, aims at developing a sense of justice and equality in this society.

why I believe we need more intransigent opposition. This even while acknowledging that the pronouncement Parliament could be negative enough to prevent the right to proceed on this road wretched: they are able to expropriate the Parliament to decide even decisive for the future of us all. Yet a strong, clear voice of the parliamentary opposition would be a very important signal for continuous operation in the country hope to reopen the school, in society, parliamentarians in the classroom a great season of struggle that can stop this reactionary plan that, even in the presence of 'possible approval of "regulations", and can still be defeated.

PS Finally I turn to you because even during this parliamentary debate set strongly the drama that almost all the 10,700 Italian public schools are living too long: no funds for their normal operation, without resources to hire replacement staff, with an invitation to the regional directors of schools to carry out the cleaning of classrooms and the toilets on alternate days (!) in most cases forced to ask for contributions to the families for their daily operation (to the face of free education enshrined in the Constitution!).

An emergency willed and determined only by the failures of a government that refuses even to transfer resources to schools due to them!

A state of emergency that lasted too long and that is putting at risk the quality and simple functionality of our public schools. In this emergency we must put an end immediately. It is sufficient that the government surrendered to the schools billion of debt that has accumulated against them, the allocation would be sufficient immediate and urgent additional € 300 million promised to the meager resources to schools. 300 million, nothing compared to the eight billion in cuts by the government against the public school! 300 million: essential to prevent the death of a qualified public school that guarantees the right to education. 300 million: the equivalent of the cost of three Eurofighter military aircraft of which the government ordered twenty copies last summer and now seems to be trying to "sell" because they would be too expensive and because it needed to defend the country!

Sincerely

Piergiorgio Bergonzi (Head of School of the Party of Italian Communists)-Federation of the Left
