In the village comes a group of young African immigrants aboard a barge, creating havoc in the small local government and the obvious discussions s

decisive and positive ...

's the story of the short film "The Flight", the German director Wim Wenders will shoot in Calabria in September, on a topic inspired by the experience of welcoming asylum seekers. For a decade the small towns of Badolato and those of Locri, as Statues, and Caulonia Stignano have chosen to integrate the refugees, repopulating entire countries che si erano svuotati a causa dell'emigrazione calabrese verso Nord o verso l'estero. In

Il primo ciak, in early September, will be in a rock and will continue to turn around and Badolato. It has already begun the search for actors, strictly local, while the title role was entrusted all'italoamericano Ben Gazzara, whose parents were Sicilian immigrants, originating Canicattì. [Vittorio Longhi, Repubblica.it]

"Our region becomes the set of the upcoming film by Wim Wenders, who has chosen our region to shoot a film based on a true story. It is the director," Palma gold "at Cannes in '85 with" Paris Texas "Best Director at Cannes '87 with" Wings of Desire, "" Buena Vista Social Club.

The research will be almost all actors in the provinces of Calabria, Cosenza, Catanzaro and Reggio. "The Flight" is a fairy tale starring a child and its mayor (Ben Gazzara) facing a country increasingly depopulated, where the young protagonist can not even organize a game of football because there are no teammates. With a surprise ending as in any self-respecting fairy tale.

The film will cost € 183.7 million: Calabria Region not limited to sponsor the movie, but is co-producing with seventy thousand euro. "A decision - said the president of the Calabria Region - official with a special resolution of the junta. This is not a random choice. Calabria was the first Italian region to adopt a law to promote the acceptance and integration of refugees and asylum seekers in the area, combining it with the socio-economic development of local communities. A measure born from the positive experience of some municipalities of Locri - Statues, and Caulonia Stignano - where refugees have become a real resource. Arrived on several occasions since the late nineties, have long been engaged in handicrafts and local products and are thus contributing, in harmony with the local population, to revitalize the economy of towns marked by a past of mass migration and otherwise destined to a future of decay and depopulation. An integration model jumped to hit the national news last summer when the Locride received the desperate call that came from Lampedusa, to take charge of the new arrivals as the reception center of the island was always packed.
