How To Change Manfrotto Tripod Head

"Gifts for a Goddess" exhibition opened

La mostra è stata possibile grazie all'interessamento e alla collaborazione fra l'Università degli Studi di Pisa, per la quale era presente Maria Cecilia Parra, docente Archaeology of Magna Graecia University of Pisa, and Scuola Normale, represented by Carmine Ampolo, Professor of Greek History, both curators of the exhibition. At the opening of the exhibition also Fabio Beltram, director of the Scuola Normale.
The exhibition is installed in the left aisle of the former church of St. Paul Orto and offers the visitor the large explanatory panels on four small but valuable pieces chosen by the excavations in the sanctuary dedicated to Aphrodite. There are four bronze votive statuettes, chosen to represent key moments in the life of Kaulonia, the splendid archaeological site discovered by the famous archeologist Paolo Orsi in 1912 in near Punta Stilo, a town not far from Monasterace, a site where the Scuola Normale Superiore began the study since 1999.
In particular, visitors can see two horses and a small stylized wagon wheel, probably dating from the eighth century ane, the moment when the Greeks touch the shores of what will be the Magna Grecia, laying the groundwork for foundation of the city of Kaulonia, along with other population groups.
The most interesting piece, however, is the small statue, placed in the casket in a prominent position compared to others. It is a female figure and the finely worked dall'acconciatura as rich in detail, found in the south of the temple of Aphrodite, dating from 460 ane, a piece whose sophistication witness the splendor of the polis in which it was made.
exhibition includes a fragment of a Corinthian vase of the late seventh century and a piece of stone base of the second half of the fourth century bearing the name of the goddess Aphrodite and found near the shrine, fragments that confirm the consecration to the goddess of that sacred place and four small votive bronzes.
present at Settis Salvatore, a former director of the Normal School and Professor of Classical Archaeology at the University of Pisa, who wanted to take this opportunity to emphasize the importance of even the smallest and cultural events offered to the general public, in open disagreement with the decisions of the Ministry of Culture and politics of the cuts. Prof. Settis, Cecilia Parra wanted to dedicate the exhibition she curated.
Also present was Professor Maurizio Iacono, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and founder of plaster casts. "The objects are frozen stories - says the prof. Iacono - and archaeologists are the thaw and talk. We must unite our forces - still referring to the collaboration with the Scuola Normale - defend ourselves and show pride in a difficult time for culture ".
Important the presence of Maria Lanzetta, Mayor Monasterace arrived from Calabria specifically to assist the opening and engaging with a brief and bitter comment: "I am the mayor of a war - he says - and my first act as mayor was the 'opening a library devoted to antiquities Kaulonia always and I will support the Normal School and the University of Pisa because this is the only way of redemption for Calabria. "
The presentation continued with a reading of 15 epigrams selected from the 'Palatine Anthology "and with the transfer of the" Giuseppe Nenci Scholarship Award 2010, sponsored by the winery in Sicily "Donnafugata" and intended for young scholars of antiquities in Western Sicily: the winners are Scaglioni Enza and Frank Rizzo, particularly distinguished themselves in the study of antiquity.
Simon Baron also attended the meeting, the superintendent of Calabria.
